Buried Treasury: Dig Up Crescent Maille

Buried Treasury, an innovative blog by Timothy Adam Designs, features “mini” picture treasuries of Etsy.com sellers’ work. Etsy sellers can rank their for sale items in any order, and the top ranked items are those that appear in the mini (which is generated by code provided by Etsy). Items can be re-ranked at anytime, therefore the minis on Buried Treasury are always changing.

Oxidized Jewelry Now Available

Crescent Maille now offers an “upgrade” when you buy a piece of jewelry (bracelet, pendant, earrings, necklace, or pendant & earring sets) — oxidation. To quote the upgrade description in my Etsy shop:

The natural process for sterling silver is to tarnish very slowly over time — this is called oxidation — and it is easily polished back to its original shine. But there are various methods that force instant oxidation. Then parts of the piece are gently polished up to more satiny shine. This results in a piece that looks softer, darker, and “antique.”

(Because of the nature of chain maille, the jewelry is not “static.” The rings move and rotate within the weave. Different weaves require different types of polishing. For example, the bracelets shown in the photographs are Jens Pind bracelets. Since the rings are free to rotate in the weave, one has to think of them like “tires.” So each ring has to be polished individually — polishing each part of the “tire” that would touch the road [so to speak], one by one. This is why the pricing varies.)

Here are photos of shiny sterling silver and oxidized sterling silver side-by-side — the first photo is of Jens Pind chains, and the second photo is of the Byzantine Rose pendant:

cMaille & Co. Blog

After a brief hiatus, posting at the cMaille & Co. blog, “Things We Like,” has resumed. The blog is a virtual gallery of all sorts of independent artists that we (”we” being myself and my “Co.,” Rex) admire. Many are artists and craftspeople on Etsy; some are not. Stop by and take a look around.

Gallery Update: Jens Pind Necklace

While this is not a new piece, three photographs of this necklace are new to the gallery (scroll to the bottom) as of today.

Press: Crescent Maille in the Spotlight at Etsy.com

In today’s Storque Spotlight feature, Etsy Finds: Chain Chain Chain, Etsy.com features cMaille, Crescent Maille’s Etsy shop. The Storque is Etsy’s venue for site news and articles. The lead photograph is one of Crescent Maille’s Chain Maille Samplers, and the article includes information about it. With the Sampler, you can buy segments of 1, 2, or 3 weaves of your choice, so you can compare designs & see the fine craftsmanship before making a big online purchase. As a bonus, the price of the Sampler can be deducted from your next purchase.

New Crescent Maille Site

If you’ve visited the Crescent Maille site before, you might notice that everything looks different. I’m working with new software to have a more flexible & more easily updated primary site, as well as adding a site shop. The “blog” format allows posting of news and site updates, notification of new designs, examples of work-in-progress, and so on. The better gallery format allows for easier addition of new photos.

And now you can shop directly through the Crescent Maille site.

Just follow the page-links above . . .

. . . and please visit often to see new work and news.
